Challenge

(01)

A global day. One identity. 196 countries.

Every year on June 17, UNCCD marks the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. For 2022, the identity needed to work simultaneously across 196 member countries — translatable to any language, scalable to any format, and coherent alongside the Droughtland campaign launching the same day. The risk was creating something that worked beautifully in one context and fell apart in another.

Solution

(02)

A modular identity designed to travel

The solution was a logomark built from modular, self-contained elements — designed from the start to adapt to different languages, formats, and cultural contexts without losing coherence. The visual language was rooted in optimism and collective action, deliberately aligned with Droughtland's palette so both initiatives formed a unified visual ecosystem on the same day they launched. Two different initiatives, one coherent visual world.

Conclusion

(03)

One visual language across nations, formats, and languages.

The identity was deployed globally across outdoor advertising, social media, presentations, and official UN communications in multiple languages — used by UNCCD, government officials, and member countries worldwide, and featured in the official host country activities in Spain, including events in Madrid with government representatives and international policymakers.
